Here's an opportunity to provide input on proposed new biosecurity requirements which includes the imposition of a new "general biosecurity duty" with corresponding obligations.
It's important that those preparing regulations hear from those of us who will be most affected by further regulations.
We've only just learned about this consultation, so there is only 2 days remaining, but we encourage everyone to have a look at the proposals and send a short email with your feedback.
I can only hope this would be a blanket levy on all Victorian rate payers and not just lumped onto the farmer. It’s an important issue which affects everyone.. consumers not just producers.
Great news! City of Greater Bendigo have extended the consultation period until the end of February! It is encouraging to see their responsiveness to feedback regarding the consultation period being too small.
This means you have time to let people in COGB know about the rural strategy, they have time to get their head around it and provide comments! ... See MoreSee Less
When you understand, that all the main state councils have signed up to ICLEI, which will filter through to local councils, you'll discover that the German based company are the ones behind the policy changes of "sustainability and environmental issues"
The City of Greater Bendigo (COGB) Council has published a Rural Areas Strategy Issues and Opportunities Paper, a 93-page document that contains recommendations which could significantly impact your right to farm. This paper, prepared by council-appointed "experts," includes recommendations that may reshape farming in our region:
🔍 Key Implications to Consider: • Rezoning Threats: Existing Farming Zone land recommended to be rezoned to Rural Conservation Zone (RCZ), slashing farmers’ rights on their own land. • Who Decides Your Land’s Future? Proposed soil mapping by council-appointed “experts” will assess land’s productivity, with far-reaching consequences for farming operations and future planning decisions, potentially undermining farmers’ knowledge and control of their own land. • New Farm Dwelling Policies: could limit new housing on farms, undermining succession planning and the ability to keep farms in families.
⏳ Time is Running Out: Consultation ends this Friday 13 December. Farmers were given just 4 weeks to review and respond to this detailed strategy, despite it being in development for months. This is not enough time for proper consultation.
📢 Have Your Say: ➡️ Fill out the survey and make your voice heard. Consultation ends 13 December. ➡️ Use the section at the end of the survey to add your own input—this is your chance to highlight: • The lack of awareness about the consultation and short consultation period. • How these changes will impact your farm and your family’s future. 💻 Access the Paper and Survey Here: 👉 letstalkgreaterbendigo.com.au/rural-areas-strategy Your feedback is crucial to protect your right to farm. VICTORIAN FARMERS will be slugged a 189% increase.
Jacinta Allan has rebadged the Fire Services Property Levy to the Emergency Services and Volunteer Fund.
This tax will hit all home owners, rental properties, businesses, landholders and particularly farmers.
FACTS - Farmers and their workforce comprise the bulk of CFA volunteers.
All give their time freely often missing holidays, Christmas and family events.
Most have privately owned and maintained fire fighting units, costing Jacinta nothing. They are often first on the scene of a fire.
The CFA is already suffering reduced funding and falling numbers due to the mismanagement of Dan and Jacinta.
This tax will decimate farming enterprises, rural communities and towns.
There is a rally on Tuesday and scrapthetax.com.au/ has been set up so as you can tell the Treasurer how this will impact you. ... See MoreSee Less
